The Siberian Gourmet company is one of the largest producers of frozen semi-finished products in Russia. The company has been present on the food market since 1995. At present, it occupies a leading position in sales from the Urals to the Far East with a production volume of 40,000 tons of products per year.
In 2019, the warehouse management system Infor SCE version 10 was implemented at the warehouse site.
The storage area is a refrigerated logistics terminal with a total warehouse area of 1604 sq. m. and a storage temperature of -20 ° C. In addition to its own finished products, the warehouse complex is used to store third-party goods, raw materials, as well as transshipment of third-party products and logistics goods.
During the work on the project, Logicon experts carried out a deep analysis of business processes. The developed strategies made it possible to maximally adjust the warehouse management system to the requirements of the business.
Key features of the project include the following:
Flexible cartoning mechanism
Cartonization in the warehouse system determines which product and how much of it can be put into the picking box. Thus, it helps to form suitable selection boxes for certain selections according to the weight, size and other characteristics of the selected goods.
In this project, three signs are used for cartonization:
- Mixing more than X items in one box is prohibited.
- All items in a picking box must have the same expiration date.
- Is it possible to mix product groups in the picking box or not.
The algorithm can be changed using a combination of these features. Thus, it is possible to vary the cartonization parameters for different consignees.
Automation of acceptance through integration with the production information system
In addition to integration with the management system, integration with the production information system has been implemented. With the help of integration, WMS receives acceptance documents from production, which already contain product attributes:
- Name
- The consignment
- Shelf life
- Quantity
When performing an acceptance operation, a warehouse employee needs to scan the pallet ID, check the information with the readings of the mobile terminal, and only confirm compliance.
The use of integration thus reduces the labor intensity for warehouse employees and eliminates errors when performing acceptance.
Automatic blocking of certain types of products due to production requirements
When accepted from production, hot products (for example, pancakes) are automatically blocked for shipment for three hours. After this time, the products are automatically unlocked and become available for shipment.
Additional marking for forwarder
In addition to the standard shipping label for a pallet, a set of labels is printed for each of the boxes. These labels do not contain barcode information, but “verbal” information. Box labels help the freight forwarder find the right item with the right expiration date for the right customer.
The use of additional marking allows you to eliminate errors and significantly speed up the unloading process.
